When you are a new mom, being able to bathe and wash your hair once a week feels like some sort of accomplishment. Being able to go back to your usual beauty routine seems like a distant dream.

Your life now revolves around your tiny newborn; you can’t be bothered about how you look when you are trying your best to soothe a crying baby. You just don’t have the time to put on a face mask as you relax and read a book. Or, the energy to follow through with all the steps of your morning as well as night routine when you can catch a few more precious minutes of sleep, instead. Yet, being able to go about your beauty routine, and essentially, spending some time on yourself can go a long way in making you feel like yourself again.

Of course, being a new mom means that you have to let go of a few things, change, and adapt to a brand new lifestyle. But, this does not mean that you have to forget about taking care of yourself. By no means am I saying that you have to take away from your time as a mom, all I am saying is that you also have to find time for yourself.

It can be easy to fall into the trap of skipping a shower every few days because you are tired, or even, have completely forgotten about it in the midst of chaos. But, try and refrain from it. Showering every single day can make you feel a thousand times better and fresher!

If you feel up for it, after a few days, get your hair done. It truly reinvigorates you and makes your tiredness and exhaustion disappear, and helps you feel a little bit more pampered. After all, there is nothing better than sitting back and relaxing while others do your work for you, is there?

Now, if we are taking care of our hair, we shouldn’t forget to give the same treatment to our skin. It has gone through a lot in the past few months, after all. Make sure to stock up on old favourites and give your skin enough moisture so that it doesn’t dry out.

Sometimes, to feel pretty you want to put on some makeup and look as amazing as ever. However, now you just don’t have the time to do all the blending and dabbing and everything else that trying to put on a perfect face full of makeup requires. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t do the basic stuff, like maybe slathering on a nude lipstick and some mascara? Even this basic makeup can go a long way in making you look more put together and organised.

And lastly, let’s not forget our “beauty” sleep. Let’s be real if you are getting any sleep at all, it’s not because you are concerned about the dark circles around your eyes, but because you just can’t take it anymore. While it may be tempting to get other work done when your baby is napping, please try to get a few precious minutes of sleep, it really will help you in the long run.
